Description

Aromatic Where does Vanilla flavoring come from? Vanilla pods of course! Ceylon Organicย  Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia), have grown naturally in the spice gardens of Ceylon from ancient times. Our Vanilla blooms are hand pollinated and left to mature for 8 months into beans on their own vines. Carefully handpicked, the beans are further cured naturally to enhance the aroma and flavour before being ground into our exotic vanilla bean powder.

Uses Mix a dash of vanilla powder, with coconut sugar and cinnamon in a shaker, sprinkle on baked goods, fruits, waffles, pancakes, hot beverages, cereal, yogurt, or even ice cream for an exotic flavor! Blend into smoothies and cocktails. Soak overnight oats with a dash of nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon powder, healthy seeds, and nuts. You can use it alone or pair it with other spices, such as cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves.

***When you buy the 35ml essence jar, remember every time you use it, you can top it up with clear, pure alcohol (approx.4-6 times). Let the split bean pod inside the jar keep releasing its flavour and age as you go. You will know the flavour is all extracted and finished when the colour of the added alcohol stops becoming brown.

Flavor Ceylon Vanilla has a warm and aromatic flavor profile. Depending on the harvest and season every batch of Ceylon Vanilla can vary in color and to a minor degree in taste as it is a natural cottage-industry product that does not use any chemical refining, additives, or preservatives to standardize product like with large-scale commercially grown and heavily processed spices

Ingredient 100% Vanilla beans are packed for the 3 pod pack. 100% Vanilla beans are crushed for the 10g pack. 1 single vanilla pod is steeped in pure alcohol for the 35ml essence pack.
Grown in Ceylon (Sri Lanka)

Storage Keep airtight in the pantry, away from sunlight and damp. Its potency and flavor remain strong as long as it is stored airtight. With a best before of two years from the manufacture date, Ceylon Vanilla remains safe to use for even longer periods as long as it is stored with minimal exposure to light, air, and moisture. This is why HEIRLOOM Ceylon Vanilla is packed at the origin, in the very region where it is harvested from. This seals the freshness and reduces exposure from day one until the pack is opened by you.

Our promise There is nothing else. No refining or coloring. 100% zero-waste, no bi-products. This product is internationally accredited by Control Union; Certified Organic (EU and USDA NOP), ISO and/or HACCP certified.

100+ years of expertise Our Ceylon Vanilla sales supports the traditional livelihoods of villagers in the rainforest regions of Sri Lanka. Ceylon Vanilla bean harvesting is labor-intensive and typically involves hand pollination. The vanilla bean is harvested by traditional methods handed down generations to preserve and retain its natural flavor. This traditional production allows village populations to utilize their age-old knowledge and expertise to survive in this modernized and mechanized world of manufacture by producing this 100% natural unrefined product. Backed by generations of expertise of the harvesters, and packed in a certified ISO and Organic processing mill, this product plays a vital role in the employment, welfare, and wellbeing of the rural village community. The children of our workforce are provided with school books and stationery for the entire school year. The mill also organizes religious and cultural events to inculcate a sense of belonging to a bigger cause, bringing a sense of pride and community to the villagers who are using age-old knowledge, treading lightly, and making a living for their families, sustainably.

Price for quality Our products are not mass-produced in vast industrialised factories. So we do not enjoy the economies of scale that supermarket brands do. We pay the millers and farmers a fair price. Specifically, batch-crafted for New Zealand, Kokonati & Heirloom products are made with multigenerational expertise and knowledge to be the best quality they can be and so easily justify the premium price for the premium quality you are getting. It is important to understand that due to the growing demand and shortage of natural Vanilla, synthetic alternatives are plenty in the market. While natural vanilla extract is rich with bioactive compounds, including vanillin, synthetic vanilla only contains vanillin. For this reason, synthetic vanilla likely has different health effects than natural vanilla products. To enjoy the maximum therapeutic benefits, ensure you check the source of vanilla you consume.

Loyalty Just as we are fiercely loyal to the millers and families we work with, we also want to reward you, for your loyalty. So every time you purchase a Kokonati or an Heirloom product you also collect rewards points that can be redeemed for a discount at checkout. Remember to sign up for the reward points (the tab on the far mid-right edge of this screen).

Packaging and recycling 30g bag-in-box. Dispose of the soft plastic bag in the supermarket collection bin. The card box can be disposed of in your recycling bin. The reason we use a clear bag for spices is so you can see the product in the clear window in the front of the box before you buy. The box protects the product by reducing exposure to light thereby protecting the potency of the spice.

Advice when spices are used as a supplement: Most of these ancient spices have flavored our foods for centuries and are safe to consume regularly when used as a spice; a small proportion of ingredient when making foods. It would be very hard to overdose on a spice when it is a minute part of a food recipe. With recent research and articles highlighting the medicinal properties and health attributes of these spices, rather than just consuming it straight away as a supplement, it is always advisable to consult a nutritionist or doctor, if using this product as an ongoing treatment for a health issue. A health care provider may recommend a specific dosage depending on a personโ€™s age, weight, and medical condition.
