Description

Versatile Pumpkin flour is a great alternative to traditional high carb, heavily processed white flours. Because of its high fiber content pumpkin takes longer to digest and satiates appetite effectively. Heirloom Pumpkin flour is made by cutting the whole pumpkin (with its peel) and drying it. The dry pumpkin is then milled into this fine flour/powder that has excellent cooking and baking applications. No sweeteners, No preservatives, No added sugar.

Uses
Can be used savory or sweet. Pumpkin flour can be used to make bread, pasta, cakes, waffles, pies, and other baked goods. It can even be used in dessert crusts, crumbles, smoothies, protein bars, and energy balls. Normally 1 cup of flour can be substituted entirely with pumpkin flour but note that it will depend on the recipe and the end product you are making too. Or you can reduce the amount of wheat flour used by replacing 1 cup of white flour with 1/4 cup of pumpkin flour, plus any suitable grain-free flour for grain-free baking.
Recipes worth trying:
Pumpkin Coconut-Oat squares. Tip. Substitute pumpkin puree with powder and increase the amount of liquid in the recipe by 20-30% ( eg. Eggs, yogurt in this recipe)
Pumpkin tortilla Tip. Substitute ground pumpkin seeds with pumpkin flour for softer tortilla
Coconut Flour pumpkin bread Tip. Substitute pumpkin puree with powder and increase the amount of liquid in the recipe by 20-30% ( eg. Add an extra egg in this recipe)
Peanut butter chocolate cookies with pumpkin and almond flour

Storage Keep airtight in the pantry, away from sunlight and damp. Its potency and flavor remain strong as long as it is stored airtight. With a best before of two years from the manufacture date, this flour remains safe to use for even longer periods as long as it is stored with minimal exposure to light, air, and moisture. This is why HEIRLOOM Pumpkin flour is packed at the origin, in the very region it is harvested from. This seals the freshness and reduces exposure from day one until the pack is opened by you.

100+ years of expertise Our Pumpkin flour sales supports the traditional livelihoods of villagers in the rural regions of Sri Lanka where pumpkins grows abundantly and are harvested by traditional regenerative methods. This allows village populations to utilize their age-old knowledge and expertise to survive in this modernized and mechanized world of manufacture by producing this 100% natural unrefined product. Backed by generations of expertise of the harvesters and packed in a certified ISO and Organic-certified processing mill, this product plays a vital role in the rural village community’s employment, welfare, and wellbeing. The children of our workforce are provided with school books and stationery for the entire school year. The mill also organizes religious and cultural events to inculcate a sense of belonging to a bigger cause, bringing a sense of pride and community to the villagers who are using age-old knowledge, treading lightly, and making a living for their families, sustainably.Β

Price for quality Our products are not mass-produced in vast industrialised factories. So we do not enjoy the economies of scale that supermarket brands do. We pay the millers and farmers a fair price. Specifically, batch-crafted for New Zealand, Kokonati & Heirloom products are made with multigenerational expertise and knowledge to be the best quality they can be and so easily justify the premium price for the premium quality you are getting.

Loyalty Just as we are fiercely loyal to the millers and families we work with, we also want to reward you, for your loyalty. So every time you purchase an Heirloom product you also collect rewards points that can be redeemed for a discount at checkout. Remember to sign up for the reward points (the tab on the far mid-right edge of this screen).

Packaging and recycling 450g. Dispose of the soft plastic bag in the supermarket collection bin. The reason we use a clear front and aluminum-backing bag for fruit flour is so you can see the product in the clear window before you buy it and because the product potency is preserved without exposure to air or moisture.

Precautions: Pumpkin is very healthy and considered safe for most. Pumpkin is mildly diuretic and could be a problem for people on certain medications, such as lithium. It is advisable to consult your healthcare provider or registered dietitian to make sure it’s safe to consume along with any prescription medication.

Pumpkin Flour - pets upset tummies

I was pleased to find Pumpkin Flour as I knew it was useful to have on hand for treating pets with upset tummies.
I was very glad I ordered some as a new kitten was having diarrhoea issues, so I mixed 1/2 tsp into wet food adding a little water and the problem resolved.

Thank you for your review of our Organic Pumpkin Flour. We are glad to hear that it was helpful in resolving your pet's diarrhoea issues.
