Description
Raw prebiotics Kokonati organic coconut cider vinegar is made from the sap tapped from the coconut flower blossoms. The sap is aged in wooden vats with the naturally occurring mother vinegar for 8 to 12 months. The bottled vinegar is flash-pasteurized. Due to the unrefined nature of vinegar, wisp-like mother vinegar will form again once bottled, this is normal. Kokonati Coconut Vinegars are 100% natural with an exotic sourness. They are rich in nutrients from coconut trees that grow in the nutrient-rich, volcanic soils of Ceylon. Raw coconut cider vinegar has many healing benefits beyond its nutritional contents; compared to an Apple, a Coconut has more nutrients. That is why coconut cider vinegar and even coconut water have more potency than apple cider vinegar; it comes from a naturally higher source in minerals and other phytonutrients, the coconut.
Uses For salad dressing, dips, preserves, pickling, and for alkalizing drinking water. Coconut vinegar can be used as a hair rinse and as a natural skin toner. It is a natural remedy for nits in the hair, it can be applied on children’s hair safely with no harmful side effects. A simple rinse with coconut vinegar can lower the pH in the scalp, close dulled hair cuticles, and even reduce greying caused by hydrogen peroxide that the scalp produces as we age. It is widely known as an environmentally friendly household cleaning solution due to its 5% acidity when used on surfaces. When diluted, it can also be used as a herbicide, fungicide, or pesticide instead of chemical-laden alternatives.
Flavor The aroma and taste is typically vinegary. It has a sharper taste profile than the milder and fruitier Kokonati organic coconut water vinegar. Depending on the harvest and season, every batch of vinegar can vary in color and, to a minor degree, in taste. It is a natural cottage-industry product that does not use any chemical refining, additives, or preservatives to standardize the product, like large-scale commercially standardized vinegar.

100+ years of coconut expertise Our Coconut vinegar sales supports the traditional livelihoods of villagers in the rural coconut triangle of Sri Lanka. Coconut sap is harvested by traditional methods handed down generations of toddy-tapping families. This traditional production allows village populations to utilize their age-old knowledge and expertise to survive in this modernized and mechanized world of manufacture by producing this 100% natural unrefined product. It is an intricate art; harvesting and extracting coconut sap. The toddy (cider) tapper families collect the natural sap every 12 hours and deliver it to our 125year old vinegar-making plant. This vinegar is expertly aged over 8 to 12 months with the mother vinegar and carefully preserved until it is ordered, bottled, and shipped to you with 100% of its natural healing potency. Our vinegar-maker is the fifth generation vinegar-maker of a proud lineage. His great grandfather, Charles supplied coconut vinegar as an instant stamina and anti-bacterial fluid, that helped heal wounded soldiers during World War One! He was even awarded the British Certificate of Appreciation for his contribution. Backed by generations of coconut expertise and certified with ISO and Organic standards, the mill plays a vital role in the employment, welfare, and wellbeing of the local village community. The children of our workforce are provided with school books and stationery for the entire school year. The mill also organizes religious and cultural events to inculcate a sense of belonging to a bigger cause, bringing a sense of pride and community to the villagers who are using age-old knowledge, treading lightly, and making a living for their families, sustainably.
Price for quality Our products are not mass-produced in vast industrialised factories. So we do not enjoy the economies of scale that supermarket brands do, because we pay the millers and farmers a fair price. Batch-crafted for New Zealand, Kokonati products are made with multigenerational expertise and knowledge. This means they are the best quality they can ever be.
Loyalty Just as we are fiercely loyal to the millers and families we work with, we also want to reward you, for your loyalty. So every time you purchase a Kokonati product, you also collect rewards points redeemable for a discount at checkout. Remember to sign up for the reward points (the black Rewards tab on the right edge of this screen ->) to get this reward fro your loyalty!
